Change Management: “Our Iceberg is Melting”

Through life whether in business or in your personal life you have to go through or lead various different aspects of change. It could be as simple as a new relationship or entering a new stage of life or possibly going through a work change such as a new job or a reorganization. Each change, if successful, will go through a series of steps that John Kotter has noted in his 8 Steps of Change.

  1. Establish a sense of urgency
  2. Create a guiding coalition
  3. Develop a clear shared vision
  4. Communicate the vision
  5. Empower people to act
  6. Create short term wins
  7. Keep it going, build on the gains
  8. Institutionalize the change

These steps are the framework for any successful change effort. Below is a link that demonstrates illustrates Kotters book “Our Iceberg is Melting”

I am sure many of can relate to the characters within and reflect on how the 8 Steps followed can be leveraged.

Let me know your thoughts… I will reference more of this material in the future and how I have leveraged it in my professional life in various projects.
